Anna contacted us to shoot her engagement photos after she bought a Groupon back in January. Originally, she wanted her photographs taken during the Cherry Blossom festival in Washington, DC. Unfortunately for the both of us, tourist season was a bit out of control and our scheduled engagement simply wasn’t going to fall into place. We had no other choice but to reschedule. With the cherry blossoms coming into bloom a little earlier than usual, we bit the bullet and moved our shoot to a second cherry blossom location in Bethesda. A community called Kenwood. But by the time we got there, the blossoms had run their course.

But, the shoot was far from awash. The photographs that emerged were beautiful, and in the end didn’t need the help of the cherry blossoms.

Picture a beautiful day in the beginning of spring. A calm waterfront in Old Town Alexandria and a couple just about bursting with affection for one another. Such was the circumstances that shaped the photos from this session.

The best of luck to this soon-to-be happily married couple!

Emily and I caught our groove at the National Arboretum on the eastern edge of Washington, DC. You can’t see it in these images, but there was still snow floating around! But even before the flowers began to bloom in garden, the Arboretum proved itself to be a beautiful choice for our morning shoot.
