From now until December 31st, 15% of Portrait & Gift Certificate sales go to Creating Communities
Ah, what a Monday. Last week, I was sitting in my old chair, drinking coffee and going over my various subscriptions and social media sites when I came across a really interesting organization.
Now, before I go on, let me preface this by saying I believe in art. I really believe in art. I think that art taps into the deeper levels of who we are as people. And not just the finished product we sometimes think of as “art” but rather the process of art that we all do when we create something. It can teach us about the world, and about ourselves. It can teach us discipline and empathy. And that’s why this organization caught my eye.
They are an Anne Arundel County based organization known as Creating Communities. It was founded by an accomplished local jazz musician, Rob Levit. Levit and I share some of the same ideas about how we can affect positive change in the world around us. Hint: It’s art.
Creating Communities helps to bring people, families and cultures together through artistic mentorship and unique art programs. It’s a great organization and it’s doing something I definitely admire. It’s also on the up-and-up as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. So that all got me thinking.
All last week we were offering a 10% discount on gift certificates. But, I think we can do something a lot better than that. So here’s what we’re going to do. From now until the end of the year, we’re going to donate 15% of all of our portrait and gift-certificate sales (not profits, sales) to Creating Communities and their efforts to improve the lives of people in the Anne Arundel Communities.
All you have to do is book or reserve a session, or buy a gift certificate, before the end of the year and we will automatically set aside your donation. You can get the images you want and need, and know that in doing so, you’re also making a difference in the lives of real people, just down the street.
Follow Creating Communities on Facebook, and check out what they’re doing. And if you really just don’t need photos right now, head over to Creating Communities website and make a contribution directly to them. If you have any questions for us, as always, you can send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or give us a call at 410-417-8206.
