Late last year, Jef & Felipe teamed up to shoot this beautifully made, largely DIY’d, wedding at the Liriodendron Mansion in Bel Air, Maryland. The autumn season meant that the trees were bright with fall colors, and from where the ceremony site was positioned, the setting sun illuminated the leaves making an absolutely beautiful backdrop and a stunning sight to see.
Friends and family were a big part of making this wedding day a success, with people chipping in everywhere they could. In fact the bride, Sarah Doherty, who is also a professional baker, made that beautiful cake herself! With everyone doing their part, the bride and groom, and the wedding party right behind them, were ready for their first look just on time. The first look allowed the photographers to consolidate most of the portraits to the beginning of the wedding, saving just a few for after the ceremony and keeping the timeline smooth and clean.
The ceremony, though short, was absolutely beautiful. Felipe stuck with the Canon 70-200mm throughout the whole ceremony, while Jef sported the Canon 24-70mm. This team-oriented choice gave the resulting images a fluid range from very wide to very long and a very nice sense of variety. After the ceremony, the reception was packed with intimate and personal moments and capped with the cutting of the Sarah’s gorgeous baked artistry.
