This couple both carry heavy West African accents. It makes perfect sense, being that both have their roots in West Africa. The two are in the US working, but most importantly enjoying each other. The Wedding, however, is well across the pond, so unfortunately, we won’t be covering that event. We’re sure it’s going to be a beautiful day to remember nonetheless. We wish them the happiest in marriage.

Anna contacted us to shoot her engagement photos after she bought a Groupon back in January. Originally, she wanted her photographs taken during the Cherry Blossom festival in Washington, DC. Unfortunately for the both of us, tourist season was a bit out of control and our scheduled engagement simply wasn’t going to fall into place. We had no other choice but to reschedule. With the cherry blossoms coming into bloom a little earlier than usual, we bit the bullet and moved our shoot to a second cherry blossom location in Bethesda. A community called Kenwood. But by the time we got there, the blossoms had run their course.

But, the shoot was far from awash. The photographs that emerged were beautiful, and in the end didn’t need the help of the cherry blossoms.

Antonio & Tracey were a pleasure to work with. Their entire wedding took place at the Marriot hotel and conference center in Rockville, MD. While I’m not always a huge fan of hotel weddings, this one was truly an exception. The hotel lobby and various hallway corridors provided excellent settings for our formal portraits and photos prior to the ceremony were easily lit with an abundance of natural lighting.

IMG_2379 We developed a great report and had lots of fun doing so, which was especially comical considering more than a few of the bridesmaids shared the same name. (As if remembering names isn’t challenging enough!) They thought it was especially funny that their photographer seemed unusually attached to the word ‘awesome’. It quickly became the adjective of the night.

IMG_7209 During the ceremony, Tracey & Antonio shared some of the most beautiful custom vows I’ve ever heard. While all personal vows are beautiful in their own right, these actually made me choke up at one point.

Once again, the toasts during this wedding were exceptional. Nothing was gleaned from internet cookie-cutters. The words came from close friends and family, but more importantly, came from the heart.

Without hesitation, I can say that I not only enjoyed this wedding but was also encouraged by Antonio and Tracey’s relationship and their sentiments toward each other. Both in word and in action.

Antonio & Tracey, I wish you all the luck in the world and hope very much that you will make each other happy, day in and day out.

The Lindsey’s oldest son was heading into the Navy. Before he left, they wanted to make sure they had some really great pictures taken as a family. That’s where I came in. We had a great time in Bowie’s Foxhill Park (seems to be a trend here). And, I had a chance to share a good conversation with Casey, the mother of house, who also happens to be an astounding cake artist! (But sshhh… we’re keeping that on the hush-hush!)

Zack and Thuli are good friends. Due to some legal hoops with her visa, Thuli has to spend a few months back home in South Africa. As a couple, the two decided to have some portraits made before she had to leave.

These were taken on a small patch of rural land in Bowie, MD.
