National Arboretum Family Portrait Session | Kopen & Keith

Back in June, Felipe had the chance to work with this beautiful family trio on some new portraits. With their little partner growing fast, they wanted to capture his energy and spirit to remember this time in their lives, and Felipe has an amazing knack for doing just that. When they first called, they knew they wanted to do something outdoors, but weren’t sure where yet. Felipe suggested The National Arboretum in Washington, DC, which proved to be a perfect location.

The National Arboretum is a sprawling mix of gorgeous natural flora, and well maintained, unobtrusive pathways and architecture. There is also plenty of shade which is good because sessions held there, themselves, have to be unobtrusive. Most sessions at The National Arboretum must be done with entirely natural light as a matter of policy. The Gardens come with a number of other restrictions too, but luckily, that wasn’t a problem! Choosing a colorful and rustic portion of the gardens, meandering about and playing together, they created a stunning set of images.

Check out some of our favorites from the session below. And, if you’re interested in working with Felipe on some images for your family, check out the Family Portraits page here on our website!
