About  Mt. Washington Mill Dye House

The Mt. Washington Mill Dye House, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is a historic venue that has been repurposed to host a variety of events, including weddings. Established in 1810 by the Washington Cotton Factory, it is the third oldest existing cotton mill in the United States. Initially built to manufacture textile goods, it continued its operations until 1923 when it was acquired by the Maryland Bolt and Nut Company. The mill was then used for producing metal fasteners such as screws, bolts, and rivets until 1989. In its current incarnation as an event space, the Dye House preserves its historical architecture while offering modern amenities.

Presently, the Dye House offers over 5,000 square feet of interior and exterior space, combining rustic wooden beams, multi-pane windows, exposed brick, and distressed concrete floors. This blend of historical and contemporary elements provides a unique atmosphere for events. Located in the Mt. Washington neighborhood, seven miles north of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, the venue is easily accessible. The Dye House includes multiple spaces for different event setups: an outdoor courtyard, a ceremony area capable of hosting 200 guests, a cocktail room, and the Dye House itself. The Dye House can accommodate up to 200 guests for a seated event with dancing or up to 250 without dancing, and the cocktail room can host approximately 90 seated guests or 200 for a standing cocktail reception.

There are several benefits to using the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House for events. The venue offers a distinctive historical charm that sets it apart from more conventional locations. It provides versatile space options suitable for various event types and sizes, with a capacity of up to 400 people for a standing cocktail reception. The Dye House also includes essential amenities such as wooden crossback chairs, round dinner tables, and cocktail tables. Additionally, the venue allows both the ceremony and reception to be held on-site, providing convenience for wedding parties. The Dye House’s exclusive catering service ensures a seamless experience, handling food, beverage, and bar services, as well as setup and cleanup.
