Jonas and Anne Catharine Green Park is a picturesque public park located in Annapolis, Maryland. The park’s history dates back to the 18th century when it was named after the owners of the Maryland Gazette, Jonas and Anne Catharine Green. The couple established the Maryland Gazette in 1745, which became the first newspaper in the state of Maryland.

In the late 1800s, the city of Annapolis purchased the property that would later become Jonas and Anne Catharine Green Park. It wasn’t until the 1960s that the park was officially dedicated and opened to the public. Over the years, the park has undergone several renovations and improvements, including the addition of benches, walking paths, and a gazebo.

One of the main attractions of Jonas and Anne Catharine Green Park is its natural beauty. The park features lush greenery, colorful flowers, and a stunning waterfront view of the Severn River. These natural elements make the park an ideal location for all types of portrait photography, including engagement sessions, family and maternity portraits, and graduation photos.

If you are planning a portrait session at Jonas and Anne Catharine Green Park, it is essential to obtain a permit from the City of Annapolis. The city requires permits for professional photography sessions and may ask you to leave the park if you do not have one. The permit is free and easy to obtain, and is really just a matter of asking.

It is worth noting that Jonas and Anne Catharine Green Park can get quite busy on weekends and holidays, especially when the weather is nice. If you’re planning a photo shoot, it’s best to arrive early to secure a good spot and avoid the crowds — Note that if the parking lot is full, rangers will turn guests away.

Location Limitations:

Photography activities can not restrict any public access to any area in the park unless proper permits are secured. Receiving approval to photograph in this location is very important because they will politely ask guests without permits to leave.
