About  Bartholdi Fountain & Gardens

The Bartholdi Fountain and Gardens is a historic site located on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The fountain was originally designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, who also created the famous Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.

Originally, the Bartholdi Fountain was located in the garden of the U.S. Capitol, but it was moved to its current location in Bartholdi Park, just south of the Capitol Reflecting Pool, in 1932. The park was named in honor of the fountain’s creator, and it has become a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.

The fountain itself is an impressive work of art, featuring a large central figure of a woman holding a torch and surrounded by four smaller figures representing the continents of Asia, America, Europe, and Africa. Water cascades down from the torch and into the surrounding pool, creating a mesmerizing display.

In addition to the fountain, the park also features beautiful gardens with a variety of flowers and plants, making it a great location for family and engagement portraits. The gardens are meticulously maintained and provide a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city.

One of the biggest challenges of visiting Bartholdi Park is finding parking, as it is located in a heavily trafficked area near the Capitol Building. However, visitors can take advantage of nearby public transportation options, including the Metro subway system and local bus routes.
