About  The National Aquarium

The National Aquarium in Baltimore is a world-class aquarium located in the heart of the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland. The Aquarium first opened its doors in August 1981, and since then, it has become a beloved landmark and a must-visit destination for tourists and locals alike.

The Aquarium was the brainchild of a group of civic leaders who recognized the need to revitalize Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. They believed that a world-class aquarium would not only draw tourists to the area but would also serve as a valuable educational resource for the community. With the help of private donations and government funding, construction of the Aquarium began in 1976, and it took five years to complete.

Today, the National Aquarium is home to more than 20,000 animals representing over 800 species. Visitors can explore the Aquarium’s numerous exhibits, including a massive Atlantic Coral Reef, a tropical rainforest, and an Australian exhibit featuring the country’s unique flora and fauna. In addition to its exhibits, the Aquarium also offers educational programs, tours, and special events.

The National Aquarium is an excellent venue for weddings and special events. Its unique setting provides a stunning backdrop for photos, and its diverse range of spaces can accommodate events of all sizes. From intimate ceremonies in the Aquarium’s rainforest exhibit to grand receptions in the spacious Shark Alley, the Aquarium offers something for every couple’s tastes and needs.

However, it’s worth noting that the Aquarium’s unique lighting and many reflective surfaces can be challenging to work with. The venue is quite large, and additional time should be allotted to make the most of the space and capture stunning event portraits. Nevertheless, the Aquarium’s unique setting, with its vibrant fish and coral, can add an unforgettable touch to a wedding or private event.
